|PARTICIPATION: East Valley High School offers numerous opportunities to participate in athletics at various levels. Students are encouraged to engage in these valuable extra-curricular activities with the understanding that athletic participation is a privilege, not a right. EVHS students are welcome to try out for sports teams. In order to play on a sports team, a student must complete the following:
ATHLETIC CLEARANCE: A completed athletic packet is required for participation. The athletic director will clear the athlete once all paperwork is submitted in full. Students may not practice or try out without a completed packet and athletic director clearance.The Athletic Packet includes:
PHYSICAL EXAMINATION: CIF requires that a student receive an annual physical examination conducted by a medical practitioner certifying that the student is physically fit to participate in athletics. This statement must be on a school board-approved form and be for the current school year.
MEDICAL INSURANCE: Students are required to have medical insurance. If a student’s family does not have this coverage,Plans are available at the link below:

CONCUSSION PARENT AND ATHLETE INFORMATION FORM: Signed by student and parent

EMERGENCY CARD: Must be on file.
TRANSFER INFORMATION: Any student who did not attend East Valley High School in the current school year must complete transfer paperwork before they can be processed to participate in sports. See the athletic director for more information.
| CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE POLICY: Participation in student activity groups and athletic groups is a privilege. Students in these groups are visible to the student body and the community. Penalties for possession or use of controlled substances in connection with any school function will have a greater impact on students involved in extra-curricular activities and athletics.
RESIDENTIAL ELIGIBILITY: A student generally has residential eligibility upon initial enrollment in the 9th grade of any CIF member high school. Any student entering from the 8th grade must have achieved a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale in all the enrolled courses at the conclusion of the previous grading period.
SCHOLASTIC ELIGIBILITY: Students must have a 2.0 GPA, on a 4.0 scale in all enrolled classes. Students must have passed at least the equivalent of 20 semester periods of work at the completion of the most recent grading period and currently be enrolled in at least 20 In order to determine academic eligibility for athletes, grade checks will occur on the following dates for every school year:
Fall Sports, June 10
Fall Sports, October 16
Winter Sports, December 18
Spring Sports, March 18
In order to meet CIF requirements, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA.
LEADERSHIP: Students participating in athletics will represent East Valley High School in a positive and professional manner. Students Athletes have leadership responsibilities and are expected to lead by example. Such as, being first to get to class and keeping the campus clean.
PURSUING VICTORY WITH HONOR: Athletic competition at East Valley High School should demonstrate high standards of ethics and sportsmanship and promote the development of good character and other important life skills. The highest potential of sports is achieved when participants are committed to pursuing victory with honor according to six core principles:
Trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship (the “Six Pillars of Character”). This Code applies to all student-athletes involved in interscholastic sports in California.
